Black/red in colour. Similar on the nose to the 2003 JJ, but a bit more lively, with blackberries and prunes, milk chocolate, and spices, and without any greenness. The palate shows lovely rich red and black fruits, coffee oak, some spices and vigorous drying chewy tannins. Certainly it is well-fruited and well-oaked, but it maintains some vibrancy. As with the 2003 JJ, it is as solid as a rock with 24 hours air-time, and some bottle age should see this soften and possibly improve.
