Arakoon Sellicks Beach Shiraz 2004 Sunday, Aug 27 2006
Tasting Notes and Australia and McLaren Vale and Variety and Red and shiraz et al

I lived in Adelaide for a while in the late 80s and I fondly remember going to the McLaren on a lazy Sunday afternoon, and visiting a few cellar doors and then heading to Sellicks Beach to enjoy a glass of wine and maybe fly a kite if the breeze was up.
Red/black in colour. An engaging nose: black plums and dark chocolate, lifted spices, some smallgoods (but not bretty), lots of depth and complexity. Red and black plums on the palate, seemlessly fine fruits, balanced with some strong acidity. The tannins are very fine, and the length is good. Quite a gnawish wine, a wine to drink now and enjoy, and good value at $20.

Sound like a nice set of wines. 2004 looks terrific for McLaren Vale.
