Arrowfield “The Authors” Unwooded Chardonnay 2005 Tuesday, Aug 22 2006
Tasting Notes and Hunter Valley and Australia and Variety and White and chardonnay
Well it is almost spring, though technically it is still winter, but I was slumped in a chair under the Storey Bridge in Brisbane on a dozy Sunday afternoon, and eating some spicy chicken and salad, slurping this wine, and I must say it slipped down easily, too easily… slurping and slipping is my motto.
Sweet aromatics: soft peaches and melons, unripe pineapple and lemon, musk and a lovely touch of herbs. The palate is clean, with peaches and sour fruits, white melon and white pineapple, very pleasant. There is also a touch of herbs on the palate too – noice – good length and a drying finish. I used to think unwooded chardonnay had nothing to offer, but really, when it is done well it is another colour in the white wine spectrum.
