Tasting Notes and Hunter Valley and Australia and Variety and Red and shiraz et al
I last tasted this blind in a whopping line up of 2004 Hunter Shiraz and I like it a little better this time around but reckon I more or less got it right on the day.
Aromas of cherry/berry, smoke, pepper, vanilla and a distinct (but attractive) earthy beetrooty character. On the palate a typical medium bodied Hunter style with sour red berry/cherry, earth and spice flavours. Gentle tannins and tangy acidity. Has a slight metallic edge on the finish. I like the slightly rustic Italianate feel of it, and that, coupled with the low alcohol, make it a wine I’d prefer to drink over many on most nights of the week.

I assume you were at the same tasting that Mattinson was at? Where are the notes on the other 40 wines? Resting on your laurels eh?
