Bremerton Old Adam Shiraz 2001 Wednesday, May 21 2008
Tasting Notes and Australia and Langhorne Ck and Variety and Red and shiraz et al
Wendy and I last visited the Bremerton cellar door about two years ago and bought this wine for about $40 but I see the latest release sold for over $75. I gather the 2004 got a couple of super reviews and its all sold out. By a coincidence, this bottle was provided by a friend at dinner, masked of course. It had a lovely pencil shavings oak on the nose and something a little funkier that merged in with the red berry aromas. The palate showed a really well crafted wine that has a good dose of tannin, rich fruit, the pencil shaving oak and a little aged character. Nice wine that went really well with lamb.

I cracked one of my two 2005s just recently and thought it it was superb. Great Langhorne Creek fruit quite capable of sucking up some good oak. Admittedly I’m a big fan of Bremerton in general and was a little astounded to see the 2005 only given a bronze in the annals of Winestate. Admittedly, it will get better with some years, but I thought it already showed its quality and potential. Any one else tried the 05 yet? And what did they think of it alongside the breakthrough 04? Cheers…..
