Castagna “La Chiave” Sangiovese 2004 Thursday, Jan 4 2007
Tasting Notes and Australia and Beechworth and Variety and Red and sangiovese et al

An engaging nose of lavender and stones, pink marshmellows and jelly crystals, gravelly, reminiscent of an English beach. The palate is juicy, lots of red/black fruits and lots of oak too, nougat and caramel, cloves and a twist of spearmint. This really was a wine that changed and morphed as it was swirled in the glass. Not terribly varietal, and seemed a touch boozier than 14.0%. Needs some time to settle I think, and might score better.

$55 is a discount for this wine. I think it’s $75 on the mailing list.

I was told the mailing list price had come down from $75 to $55(ish). I will double check.

Mail list was $75, it was same price as the 04 Genesis on pre-release order.
Wasnt very varietal IMO, but an interesting wine that needed a looong decant or a sleep in the cellar,

Did I type $75?
I meant to type $55 - it was $55 on pre release order. The 02 was $75.

It is staying at $75. I will pocket the difference and retire early to a small island in the Pacific.
