Tasting Notes and France and Champagne and Variety and Sparkling
This wine was in a bracket of three sparklers put on by a friend a few weeks ago. They were all purchased from the French Wine Centre. I had never seen them before. The bracket was blind and we were given hints that there may be a range of varietals present. This had lemon and citrus aromas that caused me to think it was a Chardonnay based wine. On the palate it showed citrus plus pear and apple and a little dry biscuit. Very nice and it would seem, good value.

Is this the Les Vignes de Montgueux?
I tasted this at the Champagne de Vigneron show in Sydney a few weeks back.
I scribbled
‘Quite floral, fresh, lemon blossom. A dry lemon, acacia, mineral and lightly yeasty palate. Touch of extract to give some weight.’
I liked it (although I liked others even more). I am ordering a selection especial.

Yep, and the other 2 I have to write up yet are the J Charpentier (pretty Perrier look alike) and Marie Noel Ledru.

Had both of those. Have notes.
I thought the Perrier knockoff was rather cheeky..

The Perrier bottle knockoff is interesting. The ‘fleur’ design bottle(like J.Charpentier) is a standard factory made - mass produced line which many many vignerons use. They just add there own ‘clear transfer label’ et voila. I will research the ‘chicken’ and ‘egg’ syndrome - did Perrier come first or …
