Tasting Notes and Australia and Tasmania and Variety and Red and pinot noir
I didn’t buy this wine with any preconceived ideas - it was just an attempt at trying something new. And the first thing that struck me about it was the classy nose: pure red cherries and minerals, with a bit of dried meat, smoke and stones. It is certainly ripe, but not too ripe, it is restrained, which I quite like. The palate is youthful and tight, red cherries and some bright acid, with minerals again and a lovely balance. There is a bit of grip but it has freshness and a dry finish. An excellent pinot at a bargain price!

Sound like great value.
Would be good if the 05 is better but out of all the reviews Ive seen so far on Jeremy Oliver alot of 05 pinots are dissapointing. Frecinet is the latest to get a poor review.

04 wasn’t a great vintage for Tassie pinot
and having tasted the 05 i think it was damn good value.
05 is tipped to be one of the best pinot vintages in tas…

While ‘04 produced lighter style pinots the good tassie makers made lovely elegant wines with lovely fragrant noses. A ‘04 Winstead pinot I had last week was just superb - quite ethereal, with a lightness and freshness that was quite beguiling.
I have heard excellent comments on the ‘04 Derwent estateso don’t be put off by the year.
Cheers

I think Anthony is out of stock of the ‘04 now.

Yep all gone. I keep talking people out of Coldtream Hills 06 Pinot (which I find too stewed) and buying Derwent. 04 is more fragrant, 05 is probably not drinking as well now but will be better for the cellar.
