Henty Estate Shiraz 2005 Monday, Mar 10 2008
Tasting Notes and Australia and Henty and Variety and Red and shiraz et al

Intense blackcurrant, spice, black plums, and with time some peppery dryness. Blackcurrants and plums on the palate too, counterpointed by some cassia bark and white pepper. A pleasant balance of juicy ripe fruit and dry spices, combined with soft tannins and some lovely supporting oak. On the downside, and it is a minor point, just a touch of bitterness on the finish. A good value Shiraz: it will set you back $22 at the cellar door, and it is even cheaper by the dozen.

I think he gave the 2005 94 points or so as well. I found it truffle infused, soupy and ultra-blackcurranty and generally not to my tastes…so chose not to review it…although I could see the appeal to others i.e. if you like 2000 Seppelt St Peters or similar.
