Kirrihill Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

A wine from Kirrihill’s Single Vineyard Series, and in this case the Tullymore vineyard. Interestingly, this name is derived from the Irish for “Big Hill”, Tulach Mor. Which just makes me gush with Australian pride: the Big Pineapple, the Big Banana, the Big Cow and now the Big Hill.

Rich aromas of grilled nuts, raspberries, red cherries, vanilla, spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, lots of vanilla in fact. The palate shows both red currant and black fruits, black olives and liquorice, all on a cedar backboard, rich and finishing with some nutty dryness. Fine tannins and still quite young. Drink now for its richness, or cellar for a more mellowed vinous vista.
