Leo Buring Eden Valley Riesling 2007 Wednesday, Oct 3 2007
Tasting Notes and Australia and Eden Valley and Variety and White and riesling
For some unknown reason when I see the name ‘Leo Buring’ I think of a middle aged man, with a comb-over and thick glasses, sitting behind a desk wearing a cardigan. Anyway, I just checked to see what he looked like and I had the glasses right..but not much else. Quite a dapper chap.
Quite floral and boisterous with lemon barley, fennel and green apple smells. On the palate juicy green apple, lemon/lime and mineral flavours. It is lightly chalky with a little grip and slightly coarse acidity but plenty of character and charm. A more robust sort of Eden but nonetheless a very enjoyable wine.

Drinking this tonight. What I love about Eden Valley is that full palate of Green apple/spiced appled character.
Regarding fennel if you haven’t yet tried my bloody mary with crushed fennel you haven’t lived.

I like tomato..just not the juice. It is an obscenity. I can drink Vic pinot if I want vege juice..

Drinking this right now, I think it is a fantastic wine. Next bottle will be the Clare version.
Cheers,
