Mayer Big Betty Shiraz 2004 Thursday, Nov 30 2006
Tasting Notes and Australia and Yarra Valley and Variety and Red and shiraz et al
My late mother in law was Betty and somewhat larger than life. So when I saw this wine at Carlton Cellars I had to take it home to Wendy. I have never seen the label before but assume its Timo Mayer from the Gembrook Hill winery. It opened a bit stinky but the sulfide did blow off with time. The palate had the cracked white pepper that cool climate shiraz has along with a bit of charry/sulfide/cola stuff. Maybe a bit of rhubarb and berry too. Love to see it in a year or 3.
Tasted : Nov06
Alcohol : 14%
Price : $26
Closure : Cork
Drink : 2006 - 2009
Source : Carlton cellars
