Meerea Park Terracotta Shiraz 2005 Sunday, Jul 8 2007
Tasting Notes and Hunter Valley and Australia and Variety and Red and shiraz et al
They don’t mention the V word in the name but this wine is co-fermented with viognier. Not sure how much this vintage (the last was about 6%) and this feels like it may have been toned down a little further. This is an excellent wine but I must say I prefer my Hunter shiraz straight up or maybe with just a dash of pinot noir.
Aromas of cassis, licorice, earth and smoky spicy oak with a light floral lift. Darkly sweet and savoury. On the palate medium to full bodied with intense sweet black fruit and more earthy flavours backed with spicy smoky oak. It feels glossy and smooth with good fine firm tannins and a long sweet fruited finish.
