Ninth Island Pinot Noir 2005 Tuesday, Dec 26 2006
Tasting Notes and Australia and Tasmania and Variety and Red and pinot noir

I had some of this with the Christmas turkey last night. Lively red cherries and spice, cinnamon quill and a hint of vanilla, a touch of woodiness. The palate displayed vague red fruits, a bit of spice, very lightly bodied with a drying finish. The length is pretty average, and to be honest the palate is a bit skinny. Drink now.

A pretty nice description for an 81 pointer! Guess it wasn’t a life changer huh!

ninth island regularly disappoint me
there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just…inoffensive.
So many better pinots from down here! Dalrymple, Freycinet, Domaine A, Barrington Estate, Cape Bernier…

Different price bracket there Regan…
I reviewed it here a while ago. I don’t mind the style it has to be said.

Yep GW, you’re right. Although I did throw in the Cape Bernier and Dalrymple for around the same price. For the same dollars I’d always go the Dalrymple.
Admittedly the Freycinet and Domaine A are a weeeee bit more expensive…but it IS christmas

However, I think they make something like 20 000 cases of this, maybe more. Given the volume it’s a pretty good effort.

Needs patience, it actually breaths up a lot nicer after about 90 minutes.
