Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2002 Thursday, May 18 2006
Tasting Notes and Australia and Barossa Valley and Variety and Red and shiraz et al

An enchanting nose: sweet fruits, singing and dancing, red plums and red cherries, lovely warm earthy spices, like cinnamon and five-spice. The palate shows savoury fruits, ripe, grippy fruit tannins, white milk chocolate, but all nicely balanced. This is a classic Australian wine and is quite drinkable now, but you would probably be best to give the strong fruit tannins some time to resolve, and some complexity to develop.

Lincoln,
I was hoping that a note on the St Henri ‘02 was going to come up, as I bought a 6 pack on spec. No sooner had they arrived, but I read quite a few reviews which were less than complimentary. This really seems to have polarised people.
Judging by your note, this seems to have the fruit power and tannin structure to last a few years. I look forward to trying one.

With the excellent fruit available from the warmer regions in Sth Australia in 2002, you’d reckon it has to be very good.
I’d expect it will be one of the better ones personally, and I very much doubt your buy will be regretted Brent.

It’s a top wine. Just beautiful. No need for concern at all.

it’s one of the australia’s best wine, in my opinion even better than the Mitolo savitar, worth every single cents
