Petaluma Chardonnay 2003 Saturday, Dec 23 2006
Tasting Notes and Australia and Adelaide Hills and Variety and White and chardonnay
I saw a great review of the 2004 so when asked by a friend what wine to share at dinner I made an obvious suggestion. He couldn’t find the 2004 but brought this along. The Chardonnay Princess quite liked this so I am looking for a 2004 to show her now. It has a lovely nose that shows peach and maybe a bit of fig/lees and toasty oak. The palate takes over from the nose but delivers nice texture and length. It is similar in style to the Mac Forbes 2005 but a little more open and evolved.
Tasted : Dec06
Alcohol : 13.5%
Price : $40
Drink : 2006 - 2008+
Source : Dinner companion

There isn’t much between the ‘03 and ‘04 (other than 1 year of time)
Boy, you are a points miser today! It should also drink well until at least 2012.

If you get a chance, come to Adelaide, and have a meal at the Bridgewater Mill, here you can (buy and) taste many back vintages of Petaluma wines (including a variety of chardonnay), going back to 2000 or so.
The recent vintages do last well.
