Rockford “Moppa Springs” 2002
By Lincoln
A blend of 74% Grenache, 15% Mataro and 11% Shiraz. Strong aromas of black currants and red currants, confection and alcohol, spice, clean earth and red liquorce steeped in raspberry liqueur. The palate showed confected red currants and raspberries, boozy but not hot, soft tannins (almost no tannins), leathery freshness, spices and a bit of thump on the finish. An admirable wine, undeniably chipper, and though the alcohol shows a bit, there’s plenty of everything else to distract you; you will grin like a cheshire cat.
