Scorpiiion Shiraz 2005 Monday, Aug 4 2008
Tasting Notes and Barossa Valley and Variety and Red and shiraz et al
The I Threes were also Bob Marley’s backup singers.
Strong colour with rich and ripe mixed berries, plasticine, roses, cinnamon spice and toast. In the mouth full bodied with ultra smooth tannins and a glycerol mouthfeel with a delicious sort of summer berry budding flavour and some other darker spicier things. Good finish. Not warm and very slurpable. Plenty of flavour, good to drink and fairly priced. A winner.

Thanks for the great review Gary. James Halliday also reviewed the wine very positively in his 2009 Wine Companion. Its been walking out the door over the last few months with the result that there is now only about 8 cases left. I think Cloudwine still have a couple of cases and its also available via scorpiiion wines website or squashed grape. The 2006 is due to be released in September - I will get some to Winorama for a look pre-release. There is no 2007 in the pipeline as the year did not give us good enough fruit (sold all our wines to the cleanskin guy). 2008 is a great Shiraz year, however, and we will be releasing both our flagship shiraz (similar to the 2005 but better we think) and a single vineyard number that is looking spectacular.
