Taylors Eighty Acres Cabernet Shiraz Merlot 2005 Friday, Aug 17 2007
Tasting Notes and Australia and Clare Valley and Variety and Red and cabernet et al
This is a new label and straight from the horses mouth (so to speak) Mitchell Taylor comments
“This range simply showcases our unique Clare Valley terroir …with a little help from a talented winemaking team. The wines are designed to offer some serious quality – blending across both classic and new Clare varieties to craft wines of character, approachability and a real sense of place.”
Aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, licorice, chocolate, mint and vanilla spice. Very nice. On the palate full bodied with sweet blackcurrant, blackberry, vanilla, coffee and spice flavours. Rich and deep with good concentration. The tannins are a little green and astringent but masked by the generosity of the fruit as a young wine. Finishes with good length and blackcurrant and bitter dried herb flavours. Considering the rarity of ever paying full RRP these days this would have to be an excellent value wine.

The title would be eighty acres and not eight, would it not G(reat) W(olfhound)?

That competition always throws up some rather odd results.
