Taylors Jaraman Riesling 2005 Tuesday, Nov 28 2006
Tasting Notes and Australia and Eden Valley and Clare Valley and Variety and White and riesling
This is 60% Clare Valley and 40% Eden Valley from a very good vintage. It does taste like the synthesis of the two regions and I can say that with confidence because I am not tasting the wine blind…
Aromas of lemon, lime, pineapple, fruit tingles and flowers. Soft and attractive with that mix of fresh citrus and candy character. On the palate juicy fresh squeezed lime, musk stick and more flinty mineral flavours. Gentle but well balanced acidity. Dry lemon candy finish. Very approachable now and very delicious it is too.

Would you pay $25 for it?

Good question. I’d probably go for the 2005 Taylors Riesling instead.

I think when you get up into the $25 bracket with Riesling you are batting in some pretty solid company, especially when there are so many cracking Riesling’s for $20 and less. I thought this was a stylish, well made wine but just lacking some X factor for the price.

Paid $19.99 for this bottle …….just opened the bottle and am a little concerned this batch may have been badly cellared…… may be sunstruck…….has a bad after-taste of metalic acidity……rather than a clean cutting citrus finish.

Yes. Well if it has been sitting on a retailers shelf (or fridge) for over a year there’s a very strong possibility of it being cactus.
