Were so sorry uncle albert
But we haven’t done a bloody thing all day
Were so sorry Uncle Albert
But the kettles on the boil and were so easily called away

And on that high note I’ll be winging it down to Melbourne for a few days to drink the finest wines available to humanity, so no updates (from me) for a couple of days. I’d have liked to have spent a bit more time with this wine to see how it looked on a second day, and to this end I may even be under-rating it.

Dark chocolate, tar, Brazil nuts, black fruits, a wisp of smokiness and flicker of mint but all dark, adult and savoury. Subdued tasteful oak an added blessing. It’s fresh, even slightly cheeky, on the palate with dark chocolate, nuts, a slight pepperiness and rich black fruits - an earthy wine of the soil rather than a sweet overtly fruity one. It has balanced alcohol, superb fine light sandy tannins and a long nuts and chocolate exit. This is pretty much how I like my Barossa Shiraz and it’s a magnificent example of the style.
