Tasting Notes and Australia and Barossa Valley and Variety and Red and cabernet et al
A wine festooned with trophies, though I think they are all from the same show. A classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot, but not from a classic Cabernet district; the Barossa Valley. I had the choice of cork and screwcap, both the same price, and I choose the latter. A lovely soft nose - plummy fruits, blueberries and winter spices (cinnamon, cloves and allspice). The palate shows black plums and spicy cherries, rich and intense, and it is sweet too. No edges with this wine, no complications, no problems, no worries mate. There is a lot of luving in the glass, to be sure, and good length, good balance; good grief - the bottle is almost gone. Cabernet in name only, not there’s nothing wrong with that. With time, sweet nougat and nutty oak emerged but it was still very smooth and gluggable - thoroughly enjoyable.
Tasted : Aug06
Alcohol : 14.0%
Price : $22
Closure : Screwcap
Drink : 2006 - 2008

I was eyeing this off at DMs last night, went with a Canberra Shiraz instead. Your review has me curious…

Gold and Top of its class at the National Wine Show. Also a Gold in Sydney more recently.
I think it is delicious. Drink it with a rich, meaty, glutinous, salty Italian dish where you might serve an Amarone and it will work a treat.

Perhaps it is inflation but I hope your interest rate rises anyway..

I bumped it a point - I thought I was being a bit stingy.

I’ve tried the 2005 and subsequently bought six. I’d be very surprised if the boys tried it and rated it lower than 91 - 92 points.
Cheers,
A.

Found an 2004 in my cellar on the weekend (let’s just say cellar’s in desperate need of “structure”, afterall I didn’t find what I was looking for!)
I recalled tasting one when I bought a 6 pack, and decided to put the rest away. Now integrated out of sight. Smooth as….glug glug, gone. >90pts for sure.
