Tasting Notes and Australia and Geelong and Wines of the Month and Top Value and Variety and Red and shiraz et al

The fruit is sourced from vines grown on Deakin University campus and is presumably made there too. I have a range from this producer to taste and based on this sample I’ll be doing them sooner rather than later.
Aromas of red and black berries, pepper and spice. It is meaty and fragrant with a little sweet tomato adding interest; a peppery Cornas style. On the palate medium bodied with black and red fruit, pepper and meaty flavours. The tannins are dry and fine and there is a sappy chalky mouthfeel that is most attractive. Finishes spicy with some sappy flavours. A stylish cool climate shiraz and a dead set bargain at the price.

Black pepper, white pepper or a bit of both?

Black and milled medium coarse..
Actually I think more black but anyway it was good pepper rather than sneezy white sort. You would like this wine a great deal.

Thanks.
Their website indicates that this wine is $14.50, with a reduction to $13.05 if 3 cases are purchased.

I have had the chance to taste a number of the WPE wines and have been very impressed with every sample thus far. Keep an eye out for these wines as they are very well priced.

Is navy blue close enough to black?
In honour of the fairly decent effort displayed by the Geelong Cats, henceforth can Bellarine Shiraz be designated as displaying rings of white and navy blue pepper characteristics?

Had a small taste of the 06 Waurn Ponds Reserve Shiraz ($30) last night and it smells baked, and meaty with a few funny smells. JP says ‘gamma wash’ but not having had a dog I can neither confirm nor deny. Tastes a bit soupy and meaty but has nice smooth tannins. Will see how it scrubs up later today - and if it does it will be reviewed.

I’ve had the 06 reserve Shiraz and it takes a bit of opening up. Needs to be warm when serving or open for a good while before hand. If this is done then she is a fine wine but still very young. I am interested to know what your thoughts were GW later that night.

Not so good last night. Too baked.
