Tasting Notes and Australia and Coonawarra and Variety and Red and cabernet et al
It does get really tiring drinking young wine all the time so we opened this and it looked like young wine! Bugger.
Strong red colour. Aromas of blackcurrant, raspberry, lead pencil, licorice and cedar. It does smell a lot like a good clean Bordeaux. On the palate full bodied with blackcurrant, raspberry, mineral and pencilly oak. Good strong fruit backed with well integrated oak. Firm but appropriate tannins and very long finish. A classic well balanced cabernet and especially good considering the modestly rated vintage. What a beauty!

If it’s as good as the 1990 which we were fortunate enough to drink a bottle of the other night, I am not surprised. It also looked like a young wine, showing no signs of tiredness or loss of fruit whatsover, and could easily go on another decade (lucky there are a few more in the cellar!). Few other cab savs of this vintage to match it IMHO.

Agreed!!! Never tasted a tired John R. or Black Label either.

Have you had 1992 JR recently? I’ve found an old bottle sitting at a liquor store priced at $76.. ullage sitting at bottom of the neck.
Worth a punt? or pass?

Definitely pass. Looks like a faulty cork or crook storage conditions. Even if it were in perfect condition it’s not a steal.
